Everything you wanted to know about me, but…

Categories:

Welcome to my world—a nod to the journey, not the destination. Life has been a mix of highs and lows, successes and failures, lessons learned along the way. In the end, all experiences were part of the process that shaped who I am today.

Professionally, I’ve worn many hats, adapting as times changed. Personally and spiritually, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined, always seeking deeper meaning. Labels don’t define me—they’re just markers on a much larger map.

Let me take you through the many facets that make up who I am today.

🔌 The Electrical Engineer

My journey began with a degree in Electrical Engineering, which instilled in me a structured, analytical approach to problem-solving. Although I never worked as an Electrical Engineer, that foundational training profoundly shaped how I think.

Even today, I break down complex systems into understandable components—whether it’s software or an abstract idea. This skill has served me well across all areas of life.

💾 The Self-Taught Technology Entrepreneur

I ran a software company for nearly 20 years in Pakistan, back when hardly anyone was doing it. Without fancy degrees, I simply learned by doing and figured things out as I went along.

This hands-on experience taught me resilience and adaptability—qualities that have been invaluable throughout my career.

📺 TV Anchor

I had the privilege of being among Pakistan’s first generation of TV talk show hosts, appearing on screen for nearly two decades before television became the crowded space it is today.

I hosted various shows in both English and Urdu. My programs focused on thoughtful analysis of current affairs, nuanced discussions of social issues, and giving voice to perspectives often overlooked.

☪️ The Muslim By Conscious Choice

Though I was born into Islam, that’s not why I’m a Muslim today. My faith is the result of conscious exploration.

I took a journey through all major religious traditions. After this exploration, I came to see Islam as the divine culmination—it represents the final and complete message from God.

Islam is the foundation of my spiritual life. At the same time, I continue to explore other faiths, philosophies, and ways of life. I seek to understand what connects us all.

Some Westerners and Islamophobes may feel troubled by this belief. My intention isn’t to provoke. Instead, I hope they’ll take the time to truly understand Islam beyond stereotypes.

🕊️ The Purposeful Retiree

I retired after an important realization: money is merely a tool for living, not the purpose of living.

Once I reached financial independence, everything changed. I gained the freedom to choose how to spend my time based on what fulfills me instead of what pays me.

Admittedly, this freedom came later than I’d hoped. But now, each day brings the luxury of pursuing what truly matters.

♻️ The Constant Reinventor

Change has been one constant in my life. I’ve never been content staying in just one role or identity.

For instance, I transitioned from being an engineer to an entrepreneur, a broadcaster to a writer, and a seeker to a teacher. Each evolution builds upon what came before while opening new dimensions of understanding.

Instead of viewing transformation as disruption, I see it as natural growth.

📚 The Eternal Student

The idea of a bodhisattva—a seeker who strives for enlightenment not just for themselves but to help others—resonates deeply with me. It fuels my unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

Learning, for me, is about more than acquiring knowledge—it’s about transformation. First, I focus on growing myself. Then, through compassion, I aim to share what I’ve learned with others who are searching for wisdom.

This cycle of growth and giving back makes the journey meaningful and fulfilling.

🎓 The Committed Teacher

Knowledge only becomes valuable when shared. The Buddhist concept of bodhichitta drives me to teach everything I learn.

Whether through writing, speaking, or personal mentoring, I believe wisdom multiplies when given away. Moreover, teaching helps me solidify my own understanding while contributing to others’ growth.

🧠 The Mensan

I had the opportunity to set up the Pakistani chapter of Mensa International and served as its founding chairperson.

One side effect of a high IQ is that I can see things from perspectives usually overlooked by most people. Over time, I’ve come to deeply value this ability.

At the same time, I’ve learned that intellectual rigor must go hand in hand with humility and compassion. True wisdom isn’t about knowing more—it’s about using what we know to uplift others.

💘 The Unabashed Romantic

I wholeheartedly embrace the full emotional spectrum of life—the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

Whether it’s the exhilaration of falling in love, the ache of heartbreak, or the quiet joy of a deep connection, I see these emotions not as weaknesses but as the essence of what makes us human.

Love, in all its forms, shapes how I experience the world. It influences my interactions with people, my appreciation for life, and my understanding of its beauty.

Passion drives me to seek meaningful connections and cherish the moments that make life profound. This romantic sensibility isn’t just about romance—it’s about celebrating the depth of feeling that binds us all together.

✍️ The Writer

This blog serves as my intellectual home, where I explore themes like faith, relationships, personal growth, and unconventional perspectives.

I write not as someone who has all the answers but as a fellow traveler trying to make sense of life’s complexities. Above all, I aim to create meaningful conversations through my words.

🎤 The Speaker

I have a lot to say, and I find it far easier to speak than to write. Words flow naturally when I’m talking, and being a former TV host has made me incredibly comfortable in front of the camera.

Whether it’s a thought, an idea, or a lesson I’ve learned, I often prefer to record a video and share it with the world. It’s immediate, personal, and allows me to connect with others in a way that feels authentic and unfiltered.

For me, speaking isn’t just about sharing—it’s about connecting. And if my words resonate with even one person, then the effort is worth it.

🚧 The Perpetual Work-in-Progress

Fragments of my past thinking are scattered across the internet, but I’m less concerned with compiling them than with continuing to grow.

The present moment always offers new opportunities for understanding, while the past remains useful mainly for its lessons.

🤝 Let’s Walk This Path Together

If any part of my journey resonates with you, I warmly invite you to join the conversation. Share your thoughts, challenge my perspectives, or simply say hello.

After all, we’re all both students and teachers in this life, and the most meaningful growth happens through genuine connection.
