What lies beyond the everyday? Is there something beyond our jobs, relationships, and routines? Are we here just to pay bills, reproduce, and die?
Many of us ask these questions, wondering about our true purpose and the meaning of our existence. Those who ask these questions, stand to discover the true meaning of our very essence.
You Are Not Your Body Or Your Mind
You probably own a car. You get into it, and drive around to complete your journey. This journey could last days, weeks, or even a lifetime. You might even start living in your car. But you never think that you are the car. You always remember that you are separate, and the car is just a temporary vehicle you’re experiencing the journey in. Similarly, our body is not us.
The Nature of the Eternal Spirit
The soul is the observer that uses the body, just like our body uses the car. Our body is a temporary abode for the soul, just like the car is a temporary abode for the body. No matter how long the soul occupies the body, it doesn’t become the body. Rather, our spirit is eternal and unchanging. Moreover, it is the essence of who we are—the source of our consciousness, awareness, and our true potential.
Living with Conscious Awareness of the Soul
The key to a deeper spiritual journey lies in living with the conscious awareness of our spirit, in every moment. This means recognizing that we are not our bodies, thoughts, or emotions, but the eternal consciousness that experiences life through them.
This awareness, allows us to detach from the temporary ups and downs of life. We begin to view both problems and successes as fleeting events on our greater journey. As a result, we discover a lasting sense of peace and freedom.
Our soul, therefore, is liberated from the prison of attachment to temporary things.
Conclusion
Essentially, we’re not our bodies. Our spirit is what truly experiences life, using our body like a car.
Furthermore, as we become the witness, we recognize that both the body and mind are separate from our true selves. In this state, we are pure consciousness—sheer purity, innocence, a mirror. For the first time, we truly know who we are. We realize that even in death, we will be witnessing our own transition.
This awareness frees us from feeling limited by our physical form, allowing us to live with a deeper sense of purpose.
