Once in a while—
will you turn your mind to me?
Just for a breath,
just for a flicker of time,
even if your heart now belongs
to another.
Once in a while—
will you let memory pull you back?
To the moments we were tangled,
before the world unraveled us,
before “we” became “you” and “me.”
Listen—
love never really dies.
It sleeps in embers,
in the faintest glow beneath the ash.
One spark, one breath of “remember,”
and it could all catch fire again.
But I’m not asking for that.
I’m only asking for this:
Let me live, soft and small,
in some quiet corner of your thoughts.
Let me be a shadow that crosses your mind—
not often, not loud.
Just once in a while.
And I’ll be okay.
I’ll live on the crumbs of your recollection,
the warmth of what we were,
the quiet hum of —
You used to love me too.
